Sing a New Song or the Rocks Will Cry Out in Your Place

“Rocks Cry Out” by Mt. Zion Church, Kalamazoo

Psalm 98
1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.
7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together
9 Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

The LORD has given us a new song. The new song is our salvation. The new song is the many changes He has wrought in us since we first came to know Him. It is the many deliverances from danger. The new song is the story of having been brought low, then lifted up. It’s the song that is born when we’re stripped of all false covering so that Christ can clothe us with His garment of righteousness. The new song is the telling of our journeys to the nations. The new song is the voice of truth and the death of all lies and falsehoods. The new song is the love of Christ, and the voice of Jehovah, Who “joys over” His children “with singing.”

It is by the power of The Holy Spirit and the sacrifice of our Savior Jesus that we sing this song. “Thy word hath been my song in the house of my pilgrimage.” (Psalm 119:54) The new song is the voice of thanksgiving and praise offered to GOD Almighty. It is grace shown to all mankind. Our new song is but one of the many manifestations of the love of GOD. Even if you can’t carry a tune in a bucket, you can and should sing this song! Don’t make the rocks cry out! Praise Him!

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
