The Word for Today Is #Gift

Gifts are a sure way to show love. Contrary to popular belief, the thought isn’t the only thing that counts. Gifts have to meet a standard of satisfaction with the recipient, and a good gift is the one the recipient thinks is wonderful. Birthdays, weddings, and holidays like Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, present us with regular opportunities to give gifts to people we love. Gifts are tokens of affection, not a substitute for it.

When choosing a gift, we want our choice to show how much we love someone, and it’s the same with our Heavenly Father. God gives good gifts because of His deep and abiding love for us. Because He has all power, He is able to create special things, situations, opportunities, and even people (think children, parents, and friends) who bless us specifically. Because He is all-knowing, He knows what we need and what best touches our minds and hearts. He sent Jesus, to gift us the gift of salvation, and His blessings are “new every morning,” because His faithfulness is great (Lamentations 3:22-23). The word for today is #gift:

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13 NIV

Not all gifts are expensive. Gifts like forgiveness, a smile, and kind words cost us nothing, but are given from the inner treasures of our hearts. What gifts will you give today?

Until we meet again, “Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might!”

Your friend in Christ,

Verneda
