When We See Jesus Sitting at the Right Hand of God

We see Jesus sitting at the right hand of God. Saint Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

Pietro da Cortona, Stoning of Saint Stephen, 1660. Acts 7:55 says that, as he was dying, Saint Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Jesus Sitting at the Right Hand of God

Jesus sitting at the right hand of God. This is not the vision that St. Stephen saw. Instead, St. Stephen saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Perhaps Jesus stood because St. Stephen was the first Christian martyr: The first of countless millions to come. If only I could keep my mind fixed on Jesus, I wouldn’t be so tossed about by worries and fears. When I see Jesus sitting at the right hand of God, I know that my salvation is complete and that everything that is evil is under His feet. Amazed, I bow in awe of the majesty of His power and greatness. I don’t fear what men can do to me. I don’t have time to indulge in sorrows, though they be deep as the sea. When I see Jesus sitting at the right hand of God, I have no fear for lack of bread. For, when I see Jesus sitting at the right hand of God, I am enraptured by His goodness, instead.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Col 3:1-2 (KJV)

Friend, where are your eyes focused today. Are you looking at your problems, hypnotized like Peter by the sheer multitude and depths of the waves of your sea? When you suffer for Christ’s sake, do you believe “Jesus stood for Stephen, and He stands for me.” What do you tell your spouse and children when sorrows arrive, that comfort them that they are alive. Where is Christ in your eyes?

Until next time: Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!

Your friend in Christ,

Verneda
