God Is Able to Keep You

“God Is Able” by Smokie Norful

2 Tim 1:12-14 (KJV)
12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Faith Means Knowing God Is Able to Keep You

Faith is an ongoing process, like the building of cells in your body. Also, like the healing process of our bodies, most of the activities of faith building occur in the realm of the unseen. We feed our faith by hearing and doing the word of God, by fellowship with other Christians.

In building our faith, we also must take care to guard our hearts will all diligence (Proverbs 4:23). Yet, despite being active in the faith building process, we cannot of our own power, sustain ourselves through the trials of life.

The Apostle Paul tells Timothy that God is able to keep that which we have “committed unto Him against that day.” Do you have a good spouse? Only the Lord can help you to keep them. Have a good job? The Lord will give you the wisdom to excel in it. Working hard in school? Remember the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Only the Lord can sustain without error, without ever dropping the ball.

Sometimes we think that things we keep personally are more safe. We are skeptical and reluctant to trust the Lord. This is an evil delusion. The path of least disappointment rests with God, Who knows all things and always acts in our best interest. Only the Lord, who has all knowledge and all power is able to keep the good things which have been given to us.

Often, what is in our best interest is not the least painful choice. The pain that God allows us to feel is to increase our strength, not break us. We can trust our hearts when we place them  on His righteous anvil. God is the only One we can trust with our being. If you are wondering what to do with your life, or talents, I suggest you trust them to God. It is the only way to keep the good things that the Lord has given to us.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
