Got Faith?

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:17 (KJV)

Scientists and intellectuals often look askance at faith because they think it is vague and unpredictable. Nothing could be further from the truth. The word “faith” means assurance. Assurance is confidence – the rock solid kind. Christians have confidence in God because He is faithful. Assurance in the faithfulness and constancy of God gives birth to acts of faith. Acts of faith are the things that we do because of our faith in God, such as:

  • Bible study, prayer and worship.
  • Getting baptized.
  • Paying tithes and offerings.
  • Living in peace with our neighbors.
  • Being faithful to our spouses.
  • Having the wisdom and love to guide and discipline children.
  • Telling the truth at all times.
  • Telling others about Jesus.
  • Loving our neighbor as ourselves.
  • Being willing to give help and comfort to the weak.
  • Being diligent in our work.
  • Being obedient to the laws of the land.

People who live lawless lives, and those who live only for their own interests cannot truthfully say that they have faith in God; because if you have faith in God, then your actions will reflect it. Remember, “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:14-26). Do you have faith? How have you shown your faith today?

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!” (Ephesians 6:10).
