Rev 7:16-17 (KJV)
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
If Tears Could Talk (What Would Yours Say?)
O the joy of being released from sorrow. What relief that our Father, Who has kept our tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8), will fix it so that we weep no more. What tenderness, that the God of the Universes will take His mighty hand and wipe the tears from our eyes. In Heaven, our hearts will be whole. The heel that was bruised by the serpent has crushed the serpent’s head. Satan with his minions who caused discord and trouble through the ages, and laid waste to the world before God created humanity, will no more trouble the nations. We need not fear any fear when we dwell in the place where there is no night there.
In stark contrast to Heaven, our time on Earth is marked by a trail of tears. Tears are the pressed wine of sorrows deeply felt. Friend, if your tears had a name, what would they be? If your tears could talk, what would they say? Would your tears say:
- Death of a spouse or child?
- Job loss?
- Poverty?
- Betrayal?
- Slander?
- Loneliness?
- Sickness?
- Mental illness?
- Satanic attack?
- Guilt?
- Shame?
- Jealousy?
- Anger?
- Bitterness?
Whatever the name of your sorrow, it lies beneath the name that is above all names, which is the name of Jesus. So reconfigure your perspective, and steady your gaze on the one Who “took captivity captive, and gave gifts to men” (Ephesians 4:8). One of the major gifts of God is peace of mind. When you let the Lord put your tears in His bottle, they are no longer trapped inside your heart where they cause you so much pain and emotional distress. Release your tears today.
But what else can we do to handle our very real sorrows here and now? How do we manage the things that cause us emotional distress while we are in a place that gives a free reign to tears and fright? My friend, we pray. Resist fear, trust God, and endure the night. It’s OK to cry, but know in your heart that God will wipe the tears from your eyes. Weeping ceases when the blessings of the Lord (which are new every morning), greets us. The rain of Heaven, the showers of blessings, the air we breathe – so sweet – and the quick-stepping dance of every heart beat are sufficient cause for us to hit the streets, and praise the goodness of the Lord. Praise Him right now!
May these words educate and comfort you today. Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
