God’s Counsel Is Immutable
Hebrews 6:17-18 (KJV)
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
There is nothing in the universe more sure than the promises of God. No wisdom more profound that His counsel. No love more deep nor care more gloriously bestowed than when the Almighty has sworn by His own magnificent and powerful Self so that His children may apprehend the depth and sureness of His constancy. This “strong consolation” should spark a passionate determination to embrace the Almighty in all areas of our lives. The promises of God are there, even as God Himself has made Himself available to those “who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us..” So desperate is our condition that we have ample cause to run to the Father that we may “lay hold upon the hope that is set before us.” Look now upon your hands. Are they holding onto the promises of God? If not, you know what to do. Run!
Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
