James 1:5
New International Version (NIV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
1 Corinthians 2:14
New International Version (NIV)
14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit.
Need a Knowledge Intervention? (Don’t Stay Stuck on Stupid)
Many are the days of ignorance before we die and see the Lord. Those who know the Lord don’t have to make “If I had only known…” our life’s mantra. Why? Because the Lord promises to give us wisdom when we ask. He does not promise to make us know all things at all times, without preparation. Rather we are to study to show ourselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15), and be willing to receive His instruction and correction.
The Spirit of God, Who is the Holy Spirit, teaches the children of God about the things of God. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth (John 16:13). Once we know those things that are freely given unto us by God to know, we can begin to speak and act so. The spirit of God empowers us with discernment to know what to do in all matters that relate to our lives, regardless of our social status, temperament or resources.
The Holy Spirit allows us to understand the things of God. God is a spirit (John 4:24). We understand God by means of spiritual discernment instead of intellectual reasoning. By the Holy Spirit, we are able to use the guidelines of Heaven to show, know and apply the wisdom of God to all of our thoughts, desires and actions. Unless the Holy Spirit intervenes by teaching the wisdom of God by the power of God, men and women can neither access nor understand spiritual truths.
Today’s verses give insight into the natural depravity of the human mind and heart. Without new life in Christ and God’s knowledge intervention, we would all be filling our minds and spirits with the knowledge and things of this world instead of the knowledge and things of God. Without God’s knowledge intervention, we would consider this world a great satisfaction, from which even greater satiety would be sought. My friends, feeding upon wickedness only to wish being filled with more wickedness is one hellish cycle!
All believers should praise God for His mercy in that He has loved us enough to lift us out of a most base existence by cleansing our minds and hearts with the Refiner’s fire of His love, mercy, wisdom and word. Remember Philippians 2:5
King James Version (KJV), which says:
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Reflection: Knowing that the natural mind is unable to see and grasp the things of God, and that I by faith in Jesus Christ have been given free access to the wisdom of God, what then is our prayer? My prayer is a prayer of praise, for God has delivered us from the enormous dangers of a spiritually dead existence. Hallelujah!
Father thanks for your grace, love, compassion and mercy, in giving Your Son Jesus as the way and reality of righteousness for all humanity. Thank You GOD, that You did not leave us to perish in wickedness. We are not abandoned to walk blindly in a world where all possibilities exist only in the realm of death and destruction.
Lord, forgive me for the many times I have allowed myself to retreat into ways of darkness and ignorance. Empower me to live the live You have assigned me to live. Help me to walk daily in your infinite wisdom and love, knowing right from wrong, light from darkness, and walking accordingly. These things I ask in the matchless and mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen and Amen!!
May these words educate and comfort you today. Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10).
