Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. 3 Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever.
Psalms 131:2-3 (KJV)
Quieted as a Child
The LORD tends for us as a mother and as a father. He is gentle, loving, and protective. There is comfort to be found in His Word, His touch, His gaze, and His love. My soul anticipates His presence and is disturbed when He does not seem near, though as I am weaned, I have learned that He is always near.
Because God is always near, and always loving, our souls can safely reside with Him, in utmost dependency. We should never fear exposure when He unmasks our sins or corrects us. We can never hide from the gaze of the Almighty. As Hebrews 4:13 says: “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
Our hope in The LORD is eternal. Because it is eternally real, it will never burn out even as the mightiest sun WILL one day be extinguished. The light of The LORD is eternal. Because He is, I am and ever will be. This is the most fantastic promise and reality!!
Seeing that I know these things, what now is our prayer? Our prayer is this: LORD, keep us in all your safeties, watching for the sweet call of your breath in our lives. May we awaken as you bid us rise to duty, to battle, or to rest. May we ever lay our heads upon your gentle breast. Forgive us our sins, and help us to know all that You would have us to know. Help us to fearlessly walk wherever you bid us to go. In Your will only are we safe. Keep our families, and all whom we love, that they may grow in their love and knowledge of You. These things we ask in Jesus’ precious name. Amen!! and Amen!!
Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
