Avarice, (extreme greed or all a consuming desire for material gain), is one of the seven deadly sins, and rightly so: When your desire for riches consumes you, you will do everything within your power to get it. You will lie, cheat, steal, develop evil schemes, murder, rape, plunder, etc., regardless of consequences to others or even yourself. To value money above all is against the will of God. As today’s verses state: People who love money, “have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” The word for today is #money. Beware! 1 Timothy 6: 9-11 says:

“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”
Every time you work on your taxes, write a check, or stand in front of an ATM, ask yourself: “Who does this say I love.”
