The Majesty of Jesus

1 Peter 3:21-22 (KJV)
21 The like figure where unto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: 22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

The Majesty of Jesus

This description of the majesty to which our Savior has ascended breathes fresh air and hope into our souls. After so long-suffering, after the cruelest torture and death, the “lowly” Jesus conquered death and hell, took “captivity captive & gave gifts” to men. In rising from the grave, He accomplished what no one else could – the salvation of mankind. The process of atonement was brutish beyond imagination, but the work is over now. It is finished. In the frustrations of our daily lives, let us not lose sight of this marvelous vision and truth: Our Savior is exalted! He is on “the right had of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto Him.”

Because of the atonement worked by Jesus has very real benefits for every believer. Because He is victorious, we are victorious. The majesty of Jesus breathes a powerful beauty into the minds and hearts of those who love Him. This cleansing beauty means that we can claim victory over every dark thought, every dark past, and every demon that comes a-sniping at our feet. Because our Savior has a position of unsurpassed power and authority (sitting at the right hand of God), we have every reason to have hope and believe His promises. Because of the love, majesty, power, authority, and riches of Jesus, we can move through every difficulty knowing that we can “do all things through Christ which strengtheneth” us (Philippians 4:13). May this thought encourage your heart today, and allow you to live in victory.

Don’t forget to bless the name of the Lord, and to be a blessing to someone today.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
