2 Timothy 2:19
King James Version (KJV)
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Whose Do You Think You Are?
Have you ever been confused or disoriented? Have you ever been lost in a strange city or location where you had never been before? You ask questions of people who make it known in short order that they don’t have time to help you. The people you ask may not even speak your language. There you are, looking at street names written in a language you don’t understand, or looking for street signs where there are none. Some people are this way about spiritual things. Some are lost, and some are already Christians. The unsaved are truly spiritually lost. Authentic Christians are no longer spiritually lost, but they may lack knowledge as to who they are. When you lack knowledge of who you are, you are disoriented with respect to your relationship to people, places and things, and you fall into error when trying to plan your life as a Christian.
Disorientation causes distress and frustration. We don’t have to live a disoriented life. When we know the Lord, we have access to all knowledge, all truth and all power. The first mark on our compass is that we belong to God. The Lord has claimed us. The Lord loves us saying: “…Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Because the Lord knows that we are His, we are sealed or permanently protected by Him. Our security lies in the fact that He knows we are His. It does not depend upon what we know or don’t know. We can scurry about in confusion at various points in our lives. Neither our ignorance, nor our mistakes, can dislodge us from God’s seal and the foundation He has established for us. Romans 8:38-39 (KJV) says:
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
May these words comfort you today. Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
