Hebrews 2:14 (KJV)
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

‘Da Double Whammy (Two-Edged Sword in Action)

As the Commander-in-Chief of Heaven’s army, Jesus is a master strategist. Death thought all he had to do was get Jesus inside the Kingdom of Darkness and shut the door. The Lord knew that death was the way to legitimately get inside Hell. Heaven has its rules, and it does not include trespassing. Hell is antichrist, with a claim to all men at birth, with the right to be fully executed at death. So Jesus took the form of a man, and died in order to “bust Hell wide open.” Satan, didn’t see the trap, because the “deceitfulness of sin” allowed him to think he could win – if only the God-man Jesus would die. Our Savior hit the devil in his blind spot. In His death and resurrection, Jesus conquered death. Now, Jesus has the keys to death and Hell. He has led captivity captive, and bestowed gifts upon all men, including us (Psalm 68:18). That Jesus conquered the devil, death and Hell is no surprise. Exodus 15:3 says: The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.”Jesus is the battleax in the time of battle for all the wars we will ever have to fight. We can truly rely on Him. Having conquered death and Hell, and having risen from the grave, Jesus is the first born of the resurrection. He reigns and lives forever, and we reign with Him.

Because Jesus is the word of God and the word of God is a two-edged sword, we “need not fear what man can do unto us” (Psalm 56:11). Our Savior blind-sided the devil himself on Calvary, and He is more than able to blind-side the machinations that the enemy of our souls has planned against us. Because God is in control, and able to make all things work together for the good of them that love Him (Romans 8:28), we have cause to rejoice in the middle of all our tribulations. Like Paul and Silas, we should sing, no matter what the day brings. Look at whatever is before you right now that is against you and speak these words “No weapon formed against me shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against me I shall condemn. This is my heritage as a child of God.” (Isaiah 54:17) So praise the Lord, and thank Him for the things He has done and the blessings on the way.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
