Strangers Here

Hebrews 13:11-14 (KJV)
11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

Strangers Here

For the children of God there is no worldly fire. No common pot of stew that we drink from with the nations. No. We are strangers on the Earth. Those who suffer with the Savior without (outside) the gate. The burdens on our backs are the hardened wood and stones of reproach. Our Savior bids us to cast them away. This world of tangible goods and services are not our rewards. Neither should they be our stumbling blocks. Let us walk daily in faith, not with eyes cast down because we do not belong here. But with our gaze staring fixed, unmovable, at the Heavens where our Savior now reigns. His immutable counsel reigns. Even now as outcasts we are Kings and Queens of the Earth. We are children of the Most High God, and we toil to bring His Kingdom here. So, with broken hearts wrested from the umbilicus of worldly logic, having denied ourselves lavish shelter, refusing to drape the temple of God with the adornments of this world, we journey outside the gate with such as what we have: The love of God shining in our hearts, the purity of Christ in our thoughts and actions, and the power of the Holy Spirit to live as Christ lived and as He lives. “We have no continuing city” here, because we are the servants of God. This is not a loss, but both temporal and eternal gain. May these words encourage you and uplift your spirit today.

Be a blessing to someone before the sun goes down.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
