With is a word of association. It implies belonging. Like a rope, “with” ties people together for good or evil. In the hours before Jesus was crucified, the Apostle Peter felt threatened by a girl who told the crowd that he had been with Jesus. Peter denied his association with Jesus three times before the cock-crow sealed this ignominious moment. Lovers fight and marriages end when it’s noised about that they have been with someone else. On the other hand, being with God made Moses’ face shine so brilliantly he had to wear a veil. With is oneness that makes enemies stand out. People who love you, stand with you in moments of joy and sorrow, and the dark shade of green that signifies envy cannot caress their face. Who you are with marks your soul like a flower’s scent marks its presence in a garden. Whoever is truly with you, is for you. God is with us. God is for us. The word for today is #with:

Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]. Romans 12:15 AMP

Until next time, be “Strong in the Lord and the power of His might.”
