Trusting God to Keep You

2 Tim 1:12-14 (KJV)

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Trusting God to Keep You

The apostle Paul suffered so much. Yet he endured his trials, determined to “fight the good fight of faith.” He knew luxury and privilege, yet he was willing to abandon these gifts in pursuit of the cross of Jesus. Yes, when Messiah Jesus calls you and teaches you personally you are compelled to follow. Much busy in his calling, Paul did not pull back from the expectation of love that he was expected to given to his fellow man, nor did he seek to keep his knowledge of things holy to himself. He mentored Timothy, who loved Paul as a son should love his father. He raised up faithful ministers of “the way” who carried on after his was martyred. The Apostle Paul was able to endure hardship because He believed that the Lord was able to “keep that which” he had “committed unto him against that day.” He was able to trust the Lord with everything he had because he “knew Him” whom he had believed.

Are you convinced that the Lord is able to keep that which you have committed unto Him. Have you committed anything to Him? Everything to Him? How well do you know the Savior that you say you believe in? Search your hearts, today and find out. If you are lacking in having committed everything to Jesus, then a course correction is in order. If you don’t “know Him” in Whom you have believed, make it a point to find out about His character, love, power and faithfulness. Make time to study the word of God and to pray. The best way to get to know someone is to talk to them – regularly – not once and a while.

Today’s believers should not seek so hard after the pleasures of this world. We should love the Savior, and follow him faithfully and selflessly, lest the horrors of the ancient persecutions visit us in their pursuit of innocent blood, and we be made to perish as did so many of the witnesses of the past.

LORD grant us the strength and the will to hold on to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Don’t forget to bless the name of the Lord and to be a blessing to someone today!

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
