Hebrews 7:12

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Unbelief enters so easily into the human heart. It is a terminal sickness for which salvation through the blood of Jesus is the only cure. Every day we should pray for the Holy Spirit to help us not fail in faith. We need Him to help our unbelief.

Unbelief is the blackest sin – a deadly trap. In its foul waters swim all that is despised: self righteousness, conceit, rebellion, jealousy, strife, idolatry, murder, drunkenness, lies and stealing. The scent born of this water is fear. The end product is death. There is no force in the Universe more powerful in its ability to undo goodness and abort blessings than the failure to believe. Holding on to the name of the Lord helps us from descending into the pit of faithlessness.

Faith guards our hearts against the invasion of unbelief. Every sunrise our eyes see is a call to renew our faith and liberty in Jesus. Faith leads us to develop habits that further guard our steps. No day should pass without prayer and meditation on the word of God. Prayer and meditation on God’s word will keep us familiar with Him. Knowing the Lord makes us able to say: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it, and they are safe” (Proverbs 18:10). Being familiar with our Creator makes us better able to hold on to Him. How can you turn to what you do not know? Therefore, let us pray:

LORD, please grant us continuity of faith and reliance on our Precious Savior. Help us by the power of the Holy Spirit to stand strong, and having done all to stand. In Jesus name we ask. Thank you LORD! Amen!

But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Heb 3:7-13 (KJV)

May these words educate and comfort you today. Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
