What You Don’t Know

The 21st Century is a time of information explosion, where knowledge doubles every 18 months or less. The widespread ownership of digital devices and the use of the Internet have removed boundaries of geography and time. Today, we are increasingly challenged to learn about new technology, and different cultures. Today, even our economic woes are globally experienced. The West falters economically, and the European Union is on the verge of bankruptcy. Businessmen and neighbors have donned the mask of highway robbers, such that even the average working man has to watch over his pension and identity lest it be stolen away from him. Parents have to fight harder than ever to raise children of faith who value godliness. Christians are challenged in their ability to share their faith, or even speak the name of Jesus out loud. Truly our lives have become complex labyrinths where every turn is a potential danger. No amount of education can guarantee you a safe passage through and around all of the dangers of our world. But GOD can.

We need divine wisdom. The awesomeness of the accomplishments of the Information Age has tricked some people into thinking that God is either dead, asleep, or irrelevant. They think: “Who needs God when we can do all these fascinating things?” The truth is, we need God more than ever: for ourselves, our families, our communities and our nations. But our need for God will never be met if we don’t look for Him. We will never know what He thinks or has to say about our quandaries if we refuse to communicate with Him.

Today’s verse tells us what to do when we need wisdom: We are to ask God. He is omniscient, and knows the end from the beginning. He made all things. He knows our fears and our weakness. He is imminently qualified to solve our problems and direct out path. God gives us knowledge abundantly, and He “upbraideth not.” This means that God doesn’t taunt us with knowledge, or rail against us for what we do not know. He doesn’t withhold from us for the sake of or abuse of power.

Today, if you are confounded by anything, ask the Lord, Who says in Psalm 32:8
: “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

With this knowledge, go out and be a blessing to someone today.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
