Grow in Grace & the Knowledge of Jesus

To grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a necessity for all believers. It is not easy, because it requires that we deny ourselves and choose to live as Christ lives. Self sufficiency can be rebellion when it is not rooted in trusting in The LORD. Christ has laid a firm foundation upon which we may confidently stand. Why would we look to another? Is it because we want to only trust what we see with our eyes? Why is this, when we know that everything we can see with our eyes will perish. Resources fail, friends fall away, relationships change, family members move on with their own lives, and visitations from sorrows are perpetual until the day we transform into glory and see the sweet face of our precious LORD.
The push and pull between temporal and eternal, carnal and divine is never ending. So too, our search for truth must wage war against lies and deceit. Life is a high mountain, and we are foolish if we think all our days will be spent in comfort when we scale it. When we reach the top, there will be no mansion there. If there was a mansion there, we would daily have to go into the valley for supplies and trade, unless the mansion were a city, and that city fortified and fully manned.

So the cycle of diligent work, studying the word of God, and having faith for the harvest in our lives and the lives of others is never ending. Growing in knowledge of Jesus gives our souls the nourishment it needs to become Christ-like. Reading the word of God is one way that we grow in knowledge of Christ. We also gain knowledge of Christ as we live according to the word of God.

Growing in grace also means increasing in humility. We learn humility through our challenges, frustrations and failures. It’s part of how the Lord makes “all things work together” for the good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

So why not thank GOD for each day as it comes, blessing His name every minute, and offering the sacrifice of praise to Him Who is holy? Praise GOD from whom all blessings flow! Give GOD the glory, both now and forever. Next time you are tempted to groan, stop. Then praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Amen!

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
