The Glory of the Lord Is Risen Upon Us

The glory of the Lord is marvelous and incredible. But, because we live in a time of special effects and spectacular electronic communications, our imaginations can become dulled to the magnitude and awesomeness of the presence and glory of the Lord. God’s word shows us how the glory of the Lord can be as frightening as a volcanic eruption, or as subtle as a butterfly landing on your nose. Like the movement of butterfly’s wings, the work that Christ Jesus accomplishes in the souls of men is often so subtle that they become dwarfed by the drama of our daily lives.

One thing is certain, the glory of the Lord will fill the temple. In the historic account of the Exodus, we are repeatedly told how the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle, which was a mobile tent that served as a the location for the ministering of the priests and functioned as central touch down point for communication with God. Wherever the Lord showed up, whether on the mountain top with Moses or in the tabernacle, the glory of the Lord was also there.

Thousands of years later, the glory of the Lord still accompanies the presence of the Lord. With the atoning death of Jesus, and His resurrection, it became possible for the Lord to enter into the hearts of men and women everywhere. Through study of the word of God, prayer, obedience to His word and denial of self, our hearts become the beacons through which the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the glory of the Lord shine. The children of God are the temple through which the glory of the Lord shines. So let the glory of the Lord fill your hearts and minds (tabernacle), so that the glory of the Lord will appear to all the people who see and know you. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, today and everyday.

Bless the name of the LORD. Be a blessing to someone today.

Until we meet again: “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
